Crystal Structure of 2,6-Dimethyl-3-cyanide-5-methylacetate-4-(4′-methyl thiophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine

The title compound was synthesised by the Hantzsch method and the structure was characterized by an X-ray diffraction method. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/a with cell parameters a = 14.2499(14)Å, b = 8.191(2)Å, c = 14.5527(16)Å, β = 107.059(8)°, Z = 4; the final residual factor is R₁ = 0.0473. The structure has both intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
