The title compound, C14H10N4O2, was synthesized from the condensation of isatin and isonicotinyl hydrazide. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pna21 with a = 8.0391(16)Å, b = 28.645(6)Å, c = 5.2812(11)Å, β = 90°, V = 1216.2(4)Å3, Z = 4, Dx = 1.454 Mg/m3, μ = 0.102 mm-1, F(000) = 552. The final R value was 0.0613 for 1970 measured reflections. Intermolecular N-H…O hydrogen bond stabilizes the crystal structure by causing the formation of a supramolecular architecture.
