The title compound, 4-hydroxy-3-[1-phenyl-2-(4-methoxybenzoyl)-ethyl]-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one, C25H20O5, Mr = 400.41, crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c, with cell constants a = 42.259(8)Å, b = 8.8538(12)Å, c = 10.6835(11)Å, β = 104.569(12)°, V = 3868.8(10)Å3 and Z = 8. The compound crystallizes in the open-chain keto form with only one asymmetric center at C11.
