Plastosomes of the liver cells of rabbits which were fed 10 days with non-protein diet, show a remarkable transformation into giant granules, and such plastosomes as transformed into giant granules, were abnormal not only in their form but in an aspect of metabolism. However if non-protein feeding is discontinued and food containing protein is given, the plastosomes reverts gradually to its normal form, and the time necessary for the reversion is related to the amount of protein contained in the diet. Therefore the giant granules which can be seen in the liver cells after 10 days' feeding with non-protein diet, can be considered as a form of reversible transformation of plastosomes.
The author wishes to make clear the metabolism of the cell with these plastosomes, which have revived morphologically, in future studies.
