To apply microfiltration (MF) membranes to industrial processes, it is necessary to analyze the particle transport phenomena in MF membranes, especially the effects of adsorbed particles on a membrane because they change transport properties greatly. In this study, Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was applied to analyze these phenomena. Euler-Lagrangian approach was solved to simulate trajectory of particles in MF with which we combined fluid dynamics solved numerically by means of CFD. We developed the code to simulate these phenomena by implementing particle-particle interaction. This code enabled the prediction of rejection properties on the condition that particles were adsorbed on a MF membrane. The CFD results about the effects of particle-particle interactions on the rejection (R) by use of our code were presented. It was revealed that when a particle is adsorbed on the membrane, R decreases slightly but keeps almost constant.
