Validation of the Family Aitchisoniellaceae (Marchantiales, Marchantiophyta) for the Monotypic Genus Aitchisoniella Kashyap

Abstract

A review of morphology and phylogenetic evidence from the literature has shown Aitchisoniella Kashyap to be taxonomically distant from its previous placement in Cleveaceae. We thus propose the family Aitchisoniellaceae R. M. Schust. ex T. X. Zheng & D. G. Long to accommodate this unique genus.
