Abstract
In this case study, the actual situation of using rape oil as fuel at farm level, as an appropriate example of local biomass energy use, is made clear, by the field survey in Rotenburg, Neidersachsen, Germany. As a result, the following conditions are pointed as promoting factors of local biomass energy use.
1. Profitable tariff rate for biomass fuel, pushing the growth of farmer's consideration for environment
2. Totally rape use, not only oil itself as fuel, but also oil cake as feed in the livestock sector, resulting in the total economical benefit in the researched farm, as a typical example of German multi farming system.
3. Profitable purchasing price of electricity for the small scale biomass generation under the Renewable Energy Act
