We analyzed how agriculture and countryside have been described in social subjects textbooks of primary school by comparing the present textbooks with 30 years ago. The results are as follows;
1) The share of pages on agriculture and countryside has not much changed at 18% to 19%. While the share of industry and cities was 21% in the past and 15% at present. It shows that agriculture and countryside now became to be thought more important.
2) The contents have considerably changed. In 30 years ago modernization of agriculture and improvement of farmers' life were most important topics, while in the present textbooks, the contents on agriculture and countryside cover a wide range including environment issues, revitalization and recreation etc.
