Abstract
This reseach presented the effect of the public support and necessary condition for the sustainable management of agricultural and rural infrastrucgture by surveyed in a typical moutainous town (Oe-town in Yamagata Prefecture). The constitution elements of agricultural and rural infrastructure divide into natural resources, social and physical infrastructures. The elements that are lacking are the junior high school, high school and hospital in the spatial extent to the selection included a few community O-aza and old village in the survey area. Also, it was cleared that the social infrastructure is able to become the base that bring about a new production element or production activity without disappearing even at the time of the decline of agriculture and forestry. The success factors were the financial public support which supplement consititution ellement like the physical infrastructure and the existing condition of the socia; infrastructure.
