Abstract
This paper clarified and predicted the degree of negative externality on farmers caused by non-farm land use around farm field. We took two types of non-farmland land uses; abandoned farmland and build-up land. First, we clarified how much externality was occurring by questionnaire and interview survey. The result showed that disease and insect control nearby abandoned farmlands were serious problem both on the paddy and upland field. Solar problem and damages from wildlife were recognized serious problems by upland farmers. Second, we estimated the extent of non-farm land use at which most farmers would feel externality by logistic regression model. The result had significance about most variables.
