The purposes of this study are to identify the main factors that influence the evaluation of terraced rice fields landscapes and to investigate the relationship between the physical features of terraced rice fields landscapes and their perception. Factor analysis was used to analyze the data from a psychological experiment. The results show that terraced rice fields landscapes are valued according to three factors, “coherence”, “natural”, and “complexity”. The physical features that were related to the perception were the coefficient of variation of all visible rice field lots in an area and the ratio of levee lengths to circumference in an image.
