Abstract
Theoretical and experimetal investigation are given on the propagation of sound waves in a cylindrical viscoelastic tube of multi-layered material. In the analysis, the locally reacting model is applied for the tube wall vibration. Simplified theory is presented in the case of single-layered and two-layered tubes, and the influence of the tube wall thickness on the resonance of the wall vibration is discussed. The phase velocity and absorption of sound waves are measured by using silicone and natural rubber tubes. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical prediction. The same measurements for two-layered tube which is made by inserting the natural rubber tube into the silicone rubber tube are done and are compared with the theory.
