Part VI. Chemical Structure of Oospoglycol (K-1), and its Formation from Oosponol by the Fungus

Abstract

The chemical structure of another metabolic product (K-1) which was isolated from the culture filtrate of Oospora astringenes was shown as 4-(1, 2-dihydroxy-ethyl)-8-hydroxyisocoumarin (I). It has glycol group and therby named oospoglycol. The reductive transformation of oosponol to oospoglycol by this fungus was also studied.
