Part IX. Phosphorylation of Nucleoside Monophosphates

Inosine-5', 2'-diphosphate was found to be synthesized by incubating 2'-IMP and p-nitrophenylphosphate with the bacteria char-acterized to phosphorylate at C₅', while the others capable of synthesizing 3'(& 2')-nucleotide were found to synthesize isomeric 5', 3'- and 5', 2'-diphosphate of inosine from 5'-IMP and the same phosphate donor. Analogous phosphorylations of the other
nucleotides were observed to be carried out under the same relationship as that of IMP.
