Factors Affecting Oxygen Transfer into Shaken Flask

Abstract

Oxygen transfer around cotton plug was examined under various conditions with different types of flasks. Oxygen transfer into the flask through cotton plug (1) did not take place evenly, specifically in case of the long-neck “Sakaguchi” flask, along the narrow passage of the neck and (2) was in general greatly affected by the air flow outside the cotton plug.
