Syntheses of Pentadienoic Acids Structurally Related to Abscisic Acid

Abstract

Instead of the 1'-hydroxy-4'-keto-2', 6', 6'-trimethyl-2'-cyclohexen-1'-yl group of abscisic acid, 3-methylpentadienoic acids with cyclohexenyl, methylcyclohexenyl, furyl, phenyl, hydroxphenyl and hydroxy-methylphenyl groups at their 5-position were synthesized from simple alicyclic and aromatic aldehydes. Growth inhibitory activities of these compounds were examine.
