The specificity of acid proteinase from a strain of Acrocylindrium was investigated using oxidized insulin A- and B-chains and glucagon. The enzyme was considerably specific for the bond involves carboxyl group of tyrosine, phenylalanine or leucine. The enzyme also seems to be considerably active when these amino acid donate amino group to the bond to be hydrolyzed.
