Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activities of Some Steroidal Amines

Abstract

1-Methyl-, 4-methyl, 1, 4-dimethyl- and 1-ethyl-4-methyl-1, 3, 5 (10) -estratrien-17 β-amines (V) were synthesized by reduction of the corresponding oximes (IV) with lithium aluminum hydride. 17 α-Amines (X) were obtained by reduction of 17 α-azido compounds (IX) with lithium aluminum hydride. N, N-Bis (2-hydroxyethyl) and 2-cyanoethyl derivatives (VI, XI, VII and XII) were also prepared. Antimicrobial activities of these compounds were tested.
