A number of new 1, 3-dithiane-2-thione derivatives were synthesized from bismesylates of substituted 1, 3-dihydroxypropanes by the reaction with sodium trithiocarbonate provided from Na2S and CS2. The cyclic structures were elucidated on the basis of the IR, UV, NMR, and mass spectra, together with elemental analyses and chemical reactions.
