A new tannic substance and five flavonoids were isolated from chestnut galls. The chemical structure of the tannic substance was established as formula I on the basis of spectral analyses. The flavonoids were confirmed to be isoquercitrin, hyperin, astragalin, trifolin and the presence of nicotiflorin was indicated.
