Preparation of Hybrid Proteins from Subunits of Sesame 13S and Soybean IIS Globulins and Their Molecular Weights

Abstract

Combination of the sesame acidic subunit (SesA) and the soybean basic subunit (SoyB) gave a l(AB)-type intermediary subunit bound with disulfide linkages, and also a new 6(AB)-type hybrid protein which had a molecular weight of 265, 000 and a sedimentation constant of 9.6S in 20% glycerol. The combination of soybean acidic subunit (SoyA₁ or SoyA₂) and sesame basic subunit (SesB) gave only 1(AB)-type intermediary subunits. SoyA₁-SoyB formed a 6(AB)-type protein whose molecular weight was estimated to be 310, 000.
