Abstract

(4aR, 10aS)-(-)-8 -Met hoxy-1, 1, 4a-trimethy 1-2-oxo-1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 9, 10, 10a-octahydrophenanthrene, a useful intermediate for the synthesis of optically active diterpenes, was synthesized from (S)-3-hydroxy-2, 2-dimethylcyclohexanone.
