Gibberellin A1 (GA1), GA3, GA55 and 3-epi-GA1 were identified by capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) in young fruits of Carica papaya L. Gibberellin A3 was dominant in young developing fruits, while GA55 was the major component in abscising fruits. Furthermore, abscising fruits contained a neutral GA3-conjugate.
