Abstract
A chloramphenicol-resistant mutant was isolated by mutagenesis with manganese to make a study of the genetics and function of mitochondrial genes in the higher basidiomycete, Pleurotus ostreatus. The resistant mutant obtained was shown to grow well on media containing up to 4mg/ml chloramphenicol. The result of genetic analysis suggested that the origin of the factor for chloramphenicol resistance of the mutant might be mitochondrial.
