Abstract

Anti-shark type I collagen antibody (PAb-S) was successfully separated from anti-pig type I collagen antiserum. PAb-S recognized a chymotryptic peptide (29 kDa) of α₁ (I) chain prepared from shark skin. This result suggested that the epitope contained in this chymotryptic peptide may be well conserved during the molecular evolution of type I collagen.
