A Research Note on Environmental Changes in Rural China

—Based on Fieldwork from 2013–2019 in Beichen Village—

Abstract

Based on fieldwork from 2013 to 2019 in Beichen Village, this research note examines thepresent situation and changes in China’s rural environment over the past decades. Apartfrom environmental problems such as garbage treatment and water pollution, infrastructure,culture, governmental policies, and rural residents’ consciousness were also reviewed. Thisresearch note aims to provide some basic information regarding local agricultural areas andhighlight certain features of rural environmental consciousness and behaviors. Some cluesregarding the direction of statistical surveys in the future have also been proposed.
