According to the traditional conception, art is a way of looking at the realities of life and things, and it represents, not the actual and superficial, but the true and more fundamental aspects of the realities. However, art is not a way of looking at, but itself a kind of reality. Being a product of particular circumstances, it works back upon the circumstances and reforms them. The reality of a work of art depends on the power of producing new circumstances. It should also be noted that the reality could only be got from the direct contact with the actual world.
