The CO2-absorption velocities of each 1 N NaOH- and KOH-solution being compared at 11°C, the ratio is 1:0.93, the absorption of NaOH being the more speedy. At 18°, and 25°, the ratios are 1:1.17, and 1:1.29 respectively, KOH being the more speedy. The rate of increase in the absorption velocity with ascending temperature is larger for KOH than for NaOH.
The author expresses his thanks to Mr. S. Miyake for his assistance in taking the photographic records.
