Reconstitution of Min Wave in Artificial Cells

Abstract

Min system determines the cell center by a unique mechanism using wave propagation of Min proteins. The wave propagation of Min proteins (Min wave) has been reconstituted in vitro using 2D planar membranes. We recently found a condition for the stable emergence of Min waves in artificial cells covered with physiological lipids and revealed that the condition for the emergence of Min waves differs between in an open space like on a 2D membrane and in a closed space like in artificial cells. In this review, we introduce cell-size space effects of Min waves by focusing on its emergence condition.
