Neural networks are mathematical objects inspired by the structure of biological neural structures. They follow a graph structure, that is, they are made of nodes (“circles”, representing the neurons) connected by edges (“arrows”, representing the synapses). Typical neural networks are not allowed to form loops in their structure, making machine learning approaches simpler. Recurrent Neural Networks, on the other hand, are allowed to connect any two nodes, thus making them recurrent (“with loops” in this context). Recurrent Neural Networks can in theory achieve the same computational capabilities as a much larger feed-forward (“standard”) network, at the cost of being much harder to train.(113ページ)(AUBERT-KATO)
A model of all the reactions that connect a set of chemical species. The term network comes from the fact that, in the general case, the product of one reaction (say C in “A+B-->C”) will be the reactant in another reaction and vice-versa (say “C+D-->A”), thus producing a network structure.(113ページ)(AUBERT-KATO)
