Abstract
Results of a detailed investigation of the emission characteristics of the coumarin dye 4-Methylumbelliferone (4-MU) are presented. Tunable laser emission from 435 to 510 nm has been observed from various solvate forms of 4-MU. The dye solution was transversely pumped by a nitrogen laser at 337.1 nm. The laser behavior of the Rhodamine 6 G-4-MU dye system is studied by measurements of the spectra for dye mixtures. It is found that most of the pump energy absorbed by the 4-MU is transferred to the Rhodamine 6 G as useful pump power.
