A fluorescence meter to trace the induction kinetics of fluorescence from intact leaves was devised using diode laser (656.9nm). The apparatus equipped a two-channel detector system of different wavelengths (685nm and 738nm), considering the fluorescence spectra of intact leaves show two peaks. Data of 64 K points were incorporated into a big capacity digital memory then transfered to a computer system (Data processing system) for processing and display. By using the apparatus, the fluorescence induction curves of camphor, pasania, camellia, evergreen magnolia and pine tree leaves were examined. The characteristics of the induction curve varied with growth stages, plant species and temperatures. Accumulation of data is required for effective application of fluorescence kinetics to remote sensing.
