In this paper we describe construction of an expert system for selecting the turning conditions, by getting the data from workshop. The way of obtaining the optimum cutting conditions is a similar method of thinking of expert engineer in actual machine-shop. In oder to update its own knowledge, it's the system with learning function by a group of neual networks. By the system unskilled workers (beginners) will be able to select optimum conditions such as feed rate of cut and cutting velocity considering surface roughness and efficiency (cutting time).
