Bazzania vietnamica Pócs was described from Viet-Nam in 1969 and also reported from China. It is newly found on trunks of Cryptomeria japonica in evergreen forest in Yakushima Island, southern Japan. Descriptions and figures are provided based on Japanese plants. It is remarkably characterized by lobule like appendages at bases of leaves and auriculate bases of underleaves, which were not mentioned in the original description, but illustrated in the original publication and reconfirmed here.
