Semi-classical Boltzmann model of cyclotron resonance in metals is extended to the simplest model of a uniaxial anisotropie metal, in which the surfaces of constant energy take the form of ellipsoid of revolution about the principal axis of the crystal, including the interaction between the individual circular motion of electrons and the plasma oscillations of the electron gas as a whole. This model, although somewhat arlificial, makes it possible to carry out the calculation exactly and we can see the main features of the connection between the plasma effect and the anisotropy of the Fermi surface. It is shown that the cyclotron resonance in a metal is expected to be affected by the plasma effect, it the Fermi surface is anisotropic and the magnetic field is not along a symmetry axis.
