Abstract

The present study aimed to report the motivational effect of cooperative learning. Learning activities were constructed by applying principles of SSMMD (self-system model of motivational development). 18 Japanese EFL (English as a foreign language) university students who enrolled in a first-year English reading course participated in this study. The quantitative data were analyzed and the statistical results supported the motivational effect of cooperative learning.
