Abstract

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) has become increasingly important in Japan as MEXT insists that children should study English while making good use of the contents of other subjects. The aim of this paper is to analyze how history CLIL is effective for 6th grade pupils. This practice involves six levels of thinking activities with colorful picture cards of 42 historical figures designed by Bloom’s Taxonomy. The result of the study reveals that emphasizing cognition of the four factors in CLIL will stimulate individual interests in content, promote listening and speaking skills and expand their vocabulary.
