Abstract
To understand the present situation of gender equality in agricultural community in Japan, existing women statistics are introduced. Then, 5 indices are integrated such as (1) the number of individual founding companies, (2) the number of group founding companies, (3) the percentage of women in agricultural committee, (4) the proportion of JA branches having two or more female directors, (5) proportion of municipality developing plans for women in agricultural community. As a result, the distribution has regional tendency tested statistically. In higher scored prefectures, there is not clear difference on the increase of individual or group founding. Thus, gender equality would be promoted by diverse supports both for individual and group activities whether it’s traditional or not.
