Abstract
No-smoking on the street becomes popular in Japan to avoid secondhand smoke and to reduce littering。 However, not a few people smoke around the designated smoking areas (DSAs)。In this paper,I analyzed factors associated smoking around DSAs。Based on field survey at 29 DSAs in Tokyo 23 wards,I showed that length of entrance induced the rate of smoking around a DSA to smoking in a DSA in addition to ashtray density, smoke retention in DSA,benches, blind area from street。 Furthermore, the bigger number of pedestrians becomes, the smaller the rate of smoking around a DSA to smoking in a DSA。
