Abstract
This study is about street trees affecting the landscape appearance. By focusing on the improving effect on the landscape by street trees, I investigated whether the impression of a front viewer would change depending on the presence or absence of a scenery made of street trees and determined the optimal balance between street trees and buildings. The impression change in the case study of Shizuoka station, in particular, the southern exit Ishida Kaidou, was surveyed using the semantic differential method. As a result, the street trees not only showed well the eye-stop but also increased beauty, calmness, and bustle, thereby reducing the pressure effect. The optimal balance of street trees and buildings was found to be dependent on the building height.
