In this study, we investigated the distribution and maintenance of the chestnut forests that is one of the traditional resource utilization of Satoyama in Nose Town. As a result, almost current chestnut forests have cultivated in a slope, and the growers who well maintain the chestnut forests intend to sell the chestnut. However, most growers were not positive for future cultivation, and the understanding of the value of the chestnut forest was not sufficient for the growers. Therefore, it was suggested that abandoned forest will expand. For the conservation of the chestnut forests in Nose town, it is necessary to increase profitability and familiarize the value of the chestnut forests in and around the Town.
