Abstract

This study was conducted in the public plaza in front of Tokyo Dome in Tokyo Dome City. The purpose of the study was to explore individuals’ seat preferences on long linear benches in the public plaza. Onsite observations and mapping were conducted for five days. The results are as follows. 1 Benches close to access routes tend to have more individuals than benches in other areas. 2 When individuals have the chance to decide where to sit on a bench, they usually prefer to sit on the edge areas. 3 Couples and individuals in groups tend to sit in the center of a bench. 4Individuals tend to avoid sitting in front of billboards on benches.
