Characteristics of the Usage and Management of Spring Water in Lakeside Village around Lake Biwa

A case of Samegai Village of Shiga

Abstract

In this research, we focused on the lakeside village around Lake Biwa and grasped the distribution of the location and the actual situation of the usage of waterway. And grasped the usage and the management method of the spring water in Samegai village. As a result, organized the waterway and the water intake method about 61 villages and grasped that the role of the waterway changed by the maintenance of waterworks. In addition, we captured the usage and the maintenance method of unique waterway according to the formation process of the village and the washing space at the Samegai village.
