Abstract

The study focuses on Kamaishi city, was affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake with no disaster remains. The purpose is to discuss the role and possibilities of storyteller as a method of handing down the disaster. As a result, the participation in the storyteller's guided tour was thought to strengthen the awareness of disaster prevention and the sense of presence and power of the disaster area. In addition, even without the disaster remains, the participation in the storyteller's guided tour may increase the awareness of disaster-related issues, similarly to the case where the disaster remains were used.
