Abstract

This paper analyzes the relationship between the timing and content of learning by education on global warming and the level of awareness and policy acceptance based on a questionnaire survey, with the aim of linking this to effective policy development in light of the significance of environmental education in policy formation. In the analysis, explanatory variables with high importance were extracted by using random forests, and then statistically analyzed individually. The results showed that (1) Perceptions of the need for countermeasures are higher with memories of learning than without, (2) Learning during the university period may affect policy acceptance, and (3) The memorable learning contents throughout the period are those that are related to the impacts of global warming and given through experiences. Future research may include analysis of whether the trends identified in this paper are causal.
