Abstract

Focusing on the parasol as one of the measures to reduce heat load for human to prevent heat stroke, the subject experiments aimed at comparison with hat in the artificial weather room and the actual environment were conducted to clarifying the effect on reducing human heat stress. From the results of artificial weather room experiments, it was confirmed that the parasol was effective in reducing the amount of sweating and suppressing the rise in skin temperature. In addition, by analyzing the heat balance of the human body under actual environment, the effect of reducing the amount of heat storage due to the improvement of the radiant environment by the parasol, were confirmed. Although there were differences due to the experimental condition, it was clarified that parasols are effective in reducing heat stress compared to hat when walking in severe thermal environment.
