Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify the continuation of the Muramai System and the community structure and environmental responses to maintain farmland in communities cultivating rice for sake in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. The results of the existing questionnaires and individual interviews with the community confirmed the current situation of sake rice farmers and their future without successors. However, it was found that there is a possibility to maintain the house. In order to maintain the sake rice production area in the future, some internal farmers or external agricultural corporations will be responsible for agriculture, while the community will work with such farmers and non-farmers who own land to maintain the agricultural land and water use in consideration of disaster prevention and the plant and animal environment.
