Abstract
In promoting the revitalization of urban parks and green spaces, collaboration among diverse actors such as private businesses, families with children, and foreign tourists has been advanced. However, the actual conditions of dog walkers who make daily use of these spaces have not been sufficiently clarified. This study conducted a questionnaire survey on communication and consumption behaviors of dog walkers and general users in Kyoto Gyoen National Garden. The results indicated that dog walkers engaged more actively in communication with other users compared to general users. Although their spending was relatively small, the high frequency of visits suggested that they may contribute to local consumption activities. Based on these findings, it is expected that future policies and projects for the revitalization of parks and green spaces will take into account the communication and consumption behaviors of dog walkers, alongside other diverse user groups.
