Abstract
1) The author studied the working characteristics of the photoelectron counter with changeable cathode, in one atmospheric pressure, changing the cathode substance and the distance between the electric poles. 2) The experiments show that the longer the distance between the electric poles the greater the whole working range and the voltage plateau when we use the same cathode substance. 3) But we are able to have more suitable working characteristics for counting by selecting suitable cathode substances. Namely, it is possible to have greater whole working range and greater voltage plateau with one cathode substance using shorter distance between the electric poles, and consequently lower working voltage than it is with some other cathode substance using longer distance between the electric poles and higher working voltage.
