2022 Volume 86 Issue 1 Pages 1-
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the first issue of the Circulation Journal in 2022. Since last year, some important enhancements, such as each issue focusing on a topic, cover page with central illustration, and inviting review articles widely, especially from Asia and Oceania, have been made. By such changes, we hope that readers will easily find articles of interest and enjoy reading each topic. In addition, the first joint symposium between the European Heart Journal and the Circulation Journal was held during the annual meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS) in 2021. The theme of the symposium was “The year in cardiovascular medicine: coronary pathophysiology and microcirculation”. In that session, Professor Filippo Crea, who is the current Editor-in-Chief of the European Heart Journal, gave an excellent lecture regarding the pathophysiology of coronary microvascular dysfunction, and Professor Hiroaki Shimokawa, previous Editor-in-Chief of the Circulation Journal, and Dr. Shun Kohsaka presented their most recent interesting research findings. Because such a joint symposium is extremely attractive and meaningful for discussing cutting-edge research and the future perspectives of cardiovascular medicine, we have agreed to hold it annually at the JCS meeting. In 2022, the theme of the joint symposium will be “Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)”, and the content of the joint symposium will be published in the Circulation Journal as review articles. Our hope is that the Journal will continue to have a role in promoting communication with overseas academic societies.
We are always striving to maintain and further enhance the scientific quality of the Journal to ensure it is recognized as a leading international medical journal. Finally, my personal appreciation of the great contributions from all authors submitting their valuable manuscripts to the Circulation Journal.
